Teddy Bridgewater tried not to let himself think about how his 2021 season ended as he watched Tua Tagovailoa walk off the field Thursday night.
Bridgewater was sidelined with a concussion last December against the Bengals, the same team Tagovailoa suffered on Thursday night.
Bridgewater and the rest of his teammates stood silently as Dolphins trainers assisted Tagovailo after suffering head and neck injuries late in the first half of Thursday night's game.
Tagovailo was treated at a nearby hospital before being released and expected to return to Miami with his teammates.
It's very scary," Bridgewater said of the situation. "That's one part of the game that's bad. It's fun to score touchdowns and make plays, but that's one aspect of the game that's really sad."
Bridgewater said "a lot was going through my mind" after watching Tagovailo leave the field. He was able to temporarily put those thoughts aside and help Miami take its first lead entering the fourth quarter.
Three consecutive Bengals scores in the fourth quarter, however, gave the home team a 27-15 win as the Dolphins fell for the first time this season.
