Luke Evans assured fans on Thursday that the Gaston and LeFou prequel to "Beauty and the Beast" is still happening and has just been delayed.

It has been put on hold. We just want to make sure it's the absolute best it can be, and if that means we have to wait a little longer to fine-tune certain parts of it, then that's what we're going to do because it's a very important legacy. The "Pinocchio" actor told Entertainment Weekly.

We want to honor these characters with the best stories we can possibly provide. It just stuck," Evans, 43, added. "It's going to happen. We're very excited about it. At some point in the near future, it's going to happen.

The prequel will tell the story of how LeFou and Gaston became friends. Josh Gad, 41, and Evans will both reprise their roles as LeFou and Gaston — both actors played in the Emma Watson-led 2017 live-action film.

"It was a thrilling experience to navigate a story of these two people and new characters and then bring them up to the moment we meet them in the movie," Evans said.

UK Evans assured fans on Thursday that the Gaston and LeFou prequel to "Beauty and the Beast" has been delayed.

When you're doing something as big and ambitious as a 'Beauty and the Beast' prequel and you're playing with the crown jewels, it's going to be an expensive undertaking," Gadd said.

Gadd explained that a major reason for the constant delays was the financial cost of the show.

When you're doing something as big and ambitious as a 'Beauty and the Beast' prequel and you're playing with the crown jewels, it's going to be an expensive undertaking," Gad said in an interview with Collider

There are ways that we can tell this story and live up to the promise of what it could be, but do it in a way that doesn't break the bank."
