LOS ANGELES (AP) - Britney Spears married her longtime partner, Sam Asgary, at a ceremony in Southern California just months after she gained independence from the pop superstar court.

Asgari's representative Brandon Cohen has confirmed the couple's marriage. She said: "I'm glad this day has come, and they're married. I know she's wanted this for so long. She's very caring and supportive at every step."

The couple got married nine months after the engagement and about seven months after the end of Spears' guardianship.

Spears expressed his desire to marry Asgari and have children, while seeking an end to the court case that governs many aspects of his life. Spears became pregnant earlier this year, but had an abortion in March.

Ventura County Sheriff's Capt. Cameron Henderson said officers responded to an intruder call after 2 p.m. Thursday. She says the pop singer's first husband, Jason Alexander, was detained at the venue.

Henderson said Alexander was arrested when officers noticed he had an arrest warrant in another county.

Alexander went on his Instagram live when he approached the security of the event. What seemed to be a mostly empty but tidy house, he told them that Spears had invited him.

"She's my first wife, my only wife," said Alexander, who briefly married Spears - his childhood friend - in 2014. Their marriage lasted only 55 hours

Spears was previously married to Kevin Federline, with whom she has two sons, aged 14 and 15.
